A great jewelry stop with exceptional customer service and products.
Since our wedding was close at this point and I had a very ill grandfather, we ended up taking a portion of our money back (which left us out a lot of money) and walking away. Not only did all of the above events occur (in my opinion), but this store also had their attorney call us the day after our wedding threatening to sue us because of a review we put online stating our opinion of the events that occurred while we were trying to purchase an engagement ring. This business must be very desperate to call someone the day after their wedding.
We hope that no one else will have to go through what we went through. I consider myself a very honest person, and I expect the same from others. I always try to support local, even if it means paying a bit more for it. However, when treated like I was treated during a time that is supposed to be happy, I would never recommend this store to anyone.
I purchased my wife her engagement ring from Jewelfire. Only being slightly educated on diamonds by means of the world wide web and other stores in the area, they were incredibly helpful and extremely informative. After visiting several other stores from Kalamazoo-South Haven-Mishawaka, I was lost and confused. Not knowing what I wanted when I first walked in, after several visits, they really helped me choose the perfect ring. They took a sincere interest in my (then) fiance and myself. By really listening to my rambling and asking intuitive questions they were able to put it all together and made the experience that I thought would be dreadful, the exact opposite! I will do my jewelry buying business with no one but Jewelfire from now on!
This store took complete advantage of us being new at buying diamonds and having a "newlywed" attitude. We asked them questions about diamonds, such as certifications, and they misled us, which ended up with them selling us a diamond that was way over priced and did not match the certificate, per other jewelry store appraisers. When we found out (from other jewelry store appraisers) that the diamond did not match the certificate and called them on it, they would not give us our money back, and told us that they could charge whatever they wanted to for a diamond because that's what the jewelry industry is like (exact words from the owner during a telephone conversation).
Do not purchase an engagement ring or diamond from Jewelfire in St. Joseph, Michigan. We originally purchased ours from this store, and we have had a horrible experience leading us not to have an engagement ring until just weeks before our wedding. Not only did we not have a ring basically our entire engagement, but we had A LOT of headaches associated with this store.
