This is a learning hospital so there are a lot of student nurses and people in training which makes it hard to get an answer to a simple question. You can ask 3 nurses the same question and get 3 different answers. Very frustrating. Labor and delivery is a joke. Everything takes 2 hours longer than they say. The girl (in training) who put my IV in my hand had to try so many times! It was painful and i had 2 hard lumps in my hand for 5 months! I delivered both of my children here and BOTH times they told me to stop pushing (which is nearly impossible!) because they didn't have the doctor there and ready. It was their responsibility to notify the doctor when he needed to be there, so i don't blame him at all. Before delivering my second child i warned the nurses that they better have the doctor ready this time because i'm not stopping again and guess what happened... lets just say i'm glad we're done having kids just so we don't have to come here again. We did have a few very nice and smart nurses but most didn't know a thing.
Labor and delivery went great, I loved my midwife Kate Sibbold and the nurse assisting. It was downhill from there, though (aside from the good nursing staff.) My baby lost weight and rather than send us a lactation consultant from the start, I didn't have one come to help until she had already lost a pound. I was told she may have an infection or it was just a contaminate in the blood sample they took...so I waited (super freaked out and worried the whole time) and it
The ER physician’s are very unprofessional. Will not return to this hospital!! They missed a very important diagnosis.
Worst medical experience of my life (im an amputee). If I could upload the pictures I've taken I would. I currently have wound care supplies sitting on the window seal in my room and they have been there all night.. The doctor even used them on my foot today. Trying to transfer now.
ended up being a contaminate that somehow got in her blood sample? I felt as if they kept trying to come up with excuses to keep myself and my baby there rather than let us go home. They also took my baby away from me for much of the first day of her life...I felt confused and cheated out of a good start to our breastfeeding relationship. I felt bummed, confused and dying to get my baby out of there by the end of our stay. I will never give birth here again, sadly.
I've had to go here three times in a very short amount of time. The nurses and doctors have always been really compassionate with me. I feel like they try to listen and figure out what is going on but an ER can only do so much. They did not seem judgmental to me. It is possible that some of the people that have issues have never actually had bad care at a hospital. I'd rather have a "long wait time" (which I've never had to wait) than crappy medical care. Also, the severity of cases has to be prioritized and nurses run their behinds off to make sure things get done. I think I had to wait like 30 mins for some medicine or something once and this doctor came in apologizing profusely. They shouldn't have to do that. Anyway, so far, all my experiences here have been positive. I feel like they try to the best of their ability to treat everyone to the best of their ability within reason.
